This
term, MLA’s junior students are very excited to be participating in an
in-school dance program called In The Mix. The program is part of MLA’s
commitment to
holistic education that incorporates daily opportunities for movement
into each child’s program. In The Mix is run by qualified, innovative
professionals who come into the school each week and work with our
students to create a choreographed dance routine combining
dance moves, music, and the latest technology. The
classes are choreographed by both the students and the dance teacher
and each class is video recorded. This culminates in a live
performance at the year end concert.
MLA has
selected this program because it supports our unique learners by
providing opportunities for kinesthetic, auditory, and visual learning.
We have found that
the program helps our students become more spatially-aware, promotes
social development, and inspires creative
self-expression. The program is ideal for our students who may benefit
from the combination of technological and kinesthetic approaches
to learning. We look forward to our students’ progress this term and
will keep you posted about their emerging dance skills!
